Fort Lauderdale Beach

Majestic Fort Lauderdale Beach

Want to be on vacation year-round?

Fort Lauderdale Beach is the perfect neighborhood for everyone from surfers to celebrities living the high life, water lovers, young families, and anyone else who enjoys spending time outside and living in a fun and active community – all located on the beautiful shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

For many years, Fort Lauderdale Beach was primarily known as a destination for tourists and college kids on spring break. Though it’s still a popular spot for both, in the mid-80s, initiatives were put in place to make the area more family-friendly and many redevelopment projects began. Today, people flock to Fort Lauderdale Beach from all over the world, and it’s become an amazingly vibrant community that many lucky people call home.

Obviously, the main attraction of living on Fort Lauderdale Beach is that you’re so close to the ocean. For people who love to swim, fish, or do anything else involving the water, being steps away from the Atlantic Ocean is a dream come true. If you’ve ever stayed at a resort that was right by the sand and thought that it would be great to have that as your backyard year-round, Fort Lauderdale Beach is for you.

Real Estate

Though there are some modestly-priced single-family homes, because many are ocean-front properties, the majority of the larger homes and mansions on Fort Lauderdale Beach start in the millions. But for those who like condo living, there are many options in the area as well, including a number of new or pending luxury waterfront developments.

There are several schools in and around Fort Lauderdale Beach, including:

  • Sunrise Middle School – Sunrise offers a Montessori magnet program for students in grades 6 through 8.

Things to do

The wide stretches of beach are the star of the show, but there are a lot of other great things to do. There’s something for just about every taste:

Speaking of restaurants, you’ll never go hungry on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Thai on the Beach offers a stunning view as well as amazing food. Located in the Atlantic Hotel, Beauty and the Feast offers a good ol’ American menu featuring burgers, steaks, and pizza. If you’re looking for food that’s a little more exotic, make sure to visit Casablanca Café for some delicious Mediterranean specialties.

If you still want to spend time outdoors but don’t feel like hitting the sand, you won’t regret taking a trip to nearby Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. Just north of the beach, this enormous park has hiking and biking trails, places to canoe and kayak, and a variety of indigenous trees, plants, and animals to discover.

There’s always something happening on Fort Lauderdale Beach. From March until November, the Friday Night Sound Waves series showcases some of the best musicians in the area. And for even more great musical acts, there’s the Tortuga Music Festival, which takes place every April in Fort Lauderdale Beach Park.
